Caught by LOOKING at the live page on 2026-07-30, right after
   the template was switched to canvas.

   Everything is scoped to `.bp-adv`, so nothing here can reach the rest of
   bioprofile.com, and core blocks are styled BY ELEMENT so a heading, a
   paragraph, a quote, a list, an image or a button inserted by hand inside the
   advertorial comes out on-design with no class to remember.

   Jesse's design feedback, 2026-07-29 23:38, point by point:
   1. the light green and the dark green are the preferred colours; grey may be
      used but the page must NOT open grey;
   2. more colour and variation across sections, e.g. a colour block on the left
      or the right side of a section, without overdesign;
   3. ONE H1, plain text on white; everything else H2 or H3; an H2 may carry its
      own background colour so the page can be read from the headings alone; an
      H3 keeps its section background and gets a bigger font size;
   4. reuse the results page design feel;
   5. Written by / Verified by, the placeholder blocks and noindex stay.

   COLOUR PROVENANCE. Not one hex is invented.
   - #b7cb32 LIGHT GREEN, brand manual "colours rejuvenation protocol"
              (R183 G203 B51). Same value as --bp-lime in
              brands/bioprofile/brand/tokens.md.
   - #006b62  DARK GREEN, brand manual, nourish the cells (R0 G107 B98).
   - #005859 brand manual primary teal, the value the brand is built on.
   - #228a62  brand manual, challenge the body (R34 G138 B98).
   - #7ca64c  brand manual, calm the mind (R124 G166 B76).
   - #dbd4cd brand manual "additional color", the warm neutral.
   - #B7CB3329 is the brand token --bp-lime-soft (light green at 16 percent).
   - the gradients are the brand token layer's own, copied verbatim.

   SPECIFICITY NOTE. Elementor's global kit emits `.elementor-kit-6 h2` style
   rules at (0,1,1). Element rules below are written `.bp-adv h2`, also (0,1,1),
   and win on source order because this sheet is inline in the body while the
   kit is a
in the head. Component rules that MUST NOT lose carry two
   classes, e.g. `.bp-adv .wp-block-button__link`.

   LAYOUT NOTE. Vertical rhythm uses `margin-block` and never the `margin`
   shorthand, so the measure rule `.bp-adv-sec > * { margin-inline: auto }` can
   centre a block without being outranked by its own element rule.
   =========================================================================== */

.bp-adv {
  --bp-ink: #212527;
  --bp-teal: #005859;
  --bp-forest: #006B62;
  --bp-emerald: #228A62;
  --bp-olive: #7CA64C;
  --bp-lime: #B7CB33;
  --bp-lime-soft: #B7CB3329;
  --bp-sand: #DBD4CB;
  --bp-white: #FFFFFF;
  --bp-foot: #6b6b6b;
  --bp-grad-dark: linear-gradient(237deg, rgba(0,88,89,0.00) 62.94%, #005859 100%), linear-gradient(90deg, rgba(34,138,98,0.00) 40%, #228A62 100%), #006B62;
  --bp-grad-lime: linear-gradient(110deg, rgba(183,203,51,0.00) 36.06%, rgba(183,203,51,0.25) 97.65%), #FFFFFF;
  --bp-font: 'Poppins','Segoe UI',Arial,sans-serif;
  --bp-fs-h1: 44px; --bp-fs-h2: 31px; --bp-fs-h3: 24px; --bp-fs-pre: 15px;
  --bp-fs-body: 17px; --bp-fs-small: 14px; --bp-fs-foot: 13px; --bp-fs-btn: 17px;
  --bp-lh-body: 1.75;
  --bp-s-1: 4px; --bp-s-2: 8px; --bp-s-3: 12px; --bp-s-4: 16px;
  --bp-s-5: 24px; --bp-s-6: 32px; --bp-s-7: 44px; --bp-s-8: 72px;
  --bp-measure: 760px; --bp-side: 40px;
  --bp-radius-photo: 16px; --bp-radius-btn: 10px; --bp-radius-card: 20px;
  --bp-shadow: 0 10px 30px rgba(0,88,89,0.10);
  font-family: var(--bp-font);
  font-size: var(--bp-fs-body);
  line-height: var(--bp-lh-body);
  color: var(--bp-ink);
  background: var(--bp-white);
  -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased;
}
.bp-adv, .bp-adv * { box-sizing: border-box; }
.bp-adv p, .bp-adv li, .bp-adv h1, .bp-adv h2, .bp-adv h3, .bp-adv blockquote,
.bp-adv a, .bp-adv cite, .bp-adv span { overflow-wrap: break-word; min-width: 0; }

/* THE TOGGLE. About a quarter of that lies stored in the liver, the spleen and the bone marrow, as a reserve for later.[3]

Ferritin is the protein that holds on to iron. A small part of it ends up in your blood, and that is the part the lab measures. Without inflammation, the amount of ferritin in your blood is linked to the total iron store in your body: little ferritin when there is a deficiency, a lot when there is a surplus.[2]

Why your iron store matters

Iron is needed for hemoglobin, the part of your red blood cells that carries oxygen through your body. Your cells use iron to make energy, and it contributes to the normal working of your immune system.[3]

You often notice a deficiency as tiring quickly, pale skin, getting out of breath quickly and restless legs. Those complaints can be there before there is anaemia, the most severe form of iron deficiency.[3]

Women who menstruate, women who are pregnant and women who are breastfeeding are more likely to have a deficiency. For vegetarians too it is good to keep an eye on iron.[3]

Too much iron can harm the liver. With the inherited condition haemochromatosis, in about 0.5 per cent of the population, the body builds up iron.[3]

What your ferritin value says

The lab's reference range

The lab BioProfile works with uses a reference range of 30 to 400 µg/l. The lab asks you to have blood drawn while fasting for this value.[4]

What the WHO guideline says

Ferritin (µg/l)

What it can mean

Who it is for

below 15[2]

iron deficiency

adults who are otherwise healthy

below 70[2]

iron deficiency

adults with an infection or inflammation

above 150[2]

possible risk of iron build-up

women who menstruate and are otherwise healthy

above 200[2]

possible risk of iron build-up

men, and women who no longer menstruate, who are otherwise healthy

above 500[2]

possible risk of iron build-up

adults who are ill

Source: WHO, guideline on ferritin (2020), table 1 and recommendation 1.3. The limits apply to adults from age 20, including after you turn 60.[2]

Ferritin too low

A low ferritin means a depleted iron store, but it does not say how severe the deficiency is. Below 15 µg/l, the WHO speaks of iron deficiency in an otherwise healthy adult. Between 15 and 30 µg/l your value is below the lab's reference range and above the WHO threshold for a deficiency. In the French study above, women with unexplained fatigue and a ferritin below 50 µg/l benefited from iron. The researchers write that doctors can consider iron in that group.[2, 1]

Ferritin too high

A high ferritin does not always mean too much iron. Ferritin also rises with inflammation, an infection, liver disease and obesity. That is why, according to the WHO, ferritin on its own does not prove iron overload: a high value calls for further investigation into the cause. In haemochromatosis, doctors look at a high transferrin saturation together with a high ferritin.[2, 5]

One measurement, and which lab

Labs measure ferritin with different methods, and the results differ from one method to another. That is why it is best to compare a value with an earlier value from the same lab.[6]

BioProfile is working on its own zones for each value, from risk to optimal. A doctor reviews those zones before they appear in your result.

What affects your ferritin

Food

Iron is in your food as haem iron and as non-haem iron. Haem iron is found only in meat, fish and chicken; your body absorbs about 25 per cent of it. Non-haem iron is in bread, wholegrain products, pulses, nuts, green vegetables and egg; of that your body absorbs 1 to 10 per cent.[3]

Vitamin C in the same meal improves the absorption of non-haem iron. Phytate in grains and pulses and polyphenols in tea and coffee slow that absorption down. Across the diet as a whole, the Voedingscentrum says you do not need to avoid foods because of that slowing effect.[3]

With a vegetarian diet the body absorbs on average 10 per cent of the iron, against over 15 per cent with an average diet. Vegetarians sometimes have smaller iron stores, which according to the Voedingscentrum are still sufficient.[3]

Blood loss

If you lose blood, you lose iron. That is why women who menstruate are more likely to have a small iron store. Your body itself takes more iron from your food as soon as the store goes down.[3]

Supplements

In the French study, ferritin rose after twelve weeks on 80 mg of iron a day by 11.4 µg/l more than on a placebo. According to the Voedingscentrum, varied eating gives most people enough iron, and it advises against supplements with iron; anyone who does take one stays below the recommended daily amount. The Voedingscentrum says iron tablets belong only after talking with a doctor, and not with haemochromatosis.[1, 3]

Inflammation, infection and illness

Inflammation, an infection, liver disease and obesity raise ferritin, regardless of your iron store. Inflammation can hide a deficiency that way. That is why the WHO puts the threshold for a deficiency higher when there is inflammation, at 70 µg/l.[2]

Which BioProfile packages measure ferritin

Ferritin is in all five packages, from BioProfile 31 to BioProfile 150.
